About Rick Made This! Custom Imprints

My name is Rick, and I made all this stuff! I started doing this as a hobby around 2019, and started it as a business in 2022.

About the Photography and Designs

To be clear, I'm not (much of) a photographer or an artist. I do have some skill with photoshop, and there are a few of my own photos here, and most of the rest of the photography comes from one of the following sources:

  • Brad West Photography -  a long time friend of mine. Brad and I go back nearly 40 years!
  • Space Telescope Science Institute - amazing images of the Cosmos captured by the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes
  • Stock Photos - freely available photography from various stock photo web sites (like Pixabay, for example).

What about AI?

Yes, I do use some AI. Most of the time, it's when I want to change an existing photo to look like a watercolor or oil painting.  Here are a few items that I've used AI for:

  • Blue Ridge Sunset - Watercolor - Photo Slate
Blue Ridge Sunset - The picture was taken with my phone and was beautiful, but not of particularly high quality.  AI helped me make it into a usable photo by generating high resolution versions of the image as if were an oil painting or a watercolor.. The image on the right is the watercolor version on a photo slate.

  • A Boy and his Dog - Oil Painting Style
A Boy and his Dog - this is actually a very old photo of me, from about 1974-1975. It's one of my mom's favorites, but it wasn't very high quality. I used AI to make it look like an oil painting, and to remove the chain link fence that was along the driveway.
  • The Shire - Just for my own amusement, and as a person who loves Van Gogh's Starry Night, I asked AI to generate an image of the Shire as if it had been painted by Vincent Van Goh.
