The photo shows a stack of Yooperlites balanced on a rock along the shore of Lake Superior. Under ultraviolet light, the stones glow with vivid orange and gold patterns, revealing their fluorescent sodalite veins. The stacked stones form a quiet, zen-like sculpture in the foreground, their warm glow standing out against the cool, dark surroundings.
Lake Superior lies just behind them, appearing calm and nearly black in the low light, while smooth shoreline rocks fade into shadow. Rising above the horizon, the Milky Way stretches vertically across the night sky, dense with stars and swirling cosmic dust, adding depth and a sense of vast scale.
The contrast between the ancient, glowing Yooperlites, the stillness of the lake, and the immense star field creates a powerful, contemplative scene—linking geology, place, and the universe in a single, tranquil moment.
